Ela Ada or Vazhayila Ada is a traditional snack from Kerala

- Roasted Rice Flour - 1 cup (250 gm)
- Hot Water - 1/2 cup
- Plantain Leaves - 4 nos.
- Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
Ingredients for Filling Inside:
- Grated Coconut - 1 cup
- Bella Liquid Jaggery - 1/4 cup
- Cardamom Powder - 1/4 tsp
In a bowl mix Grated Coconut, Liquid Jaggery, Cardamom Powder very well until well combined and keep aside.
Spread the Coconut Oil all over the Plantain Leaves
In another bowl make a dough by adding Rice Flour, hot water and salt. Place lemon size rice dough in the center of the leaf, flatten it with finger and spread the filling on it.
Fold the leaf in half. Tuck the ends of the leaf. Place the Adas in a Steamer/Idli cooker and steam it for 10 minutes.
Ela Ada is ready to serve it warm or after it cools down.
